Mike was an independent review officer for 3 years, during which time he developed his specialist knowledge of ACC law. He has appeared as an advocate for clients at review hearings and in the District and High Courts.

The firm provides representation in respect of all ACC cover and entitlements decisions, including personal injury caused by accident, work-related gradual process, treatment injury, and mental injury and pain conditions.

ACC Review Hearings

We represent clients who wish to challenge ACC decisions about cover and entitlements and guide them through the review process. We don’t just advise about the law; we work with clients to obtain the medical evidence needed to support their case.

We usually act for a fixed-fee which reflects costs payable under the Accident Compensation (Review Costs and Appeals) Regulations 2001. This can mean that our fees are met by the costs awarded by the reviewer.

We do not provide Legal Aid.

District and High Court Appeals

There is a general right of appeal to the District Court if you are not happy with the result of a review decision. This is a more formal and expensive process but is an important safeguard.

We have represented clients in ACC appeals to the District Court, and in appeals to the High Court where there has been an error of law.

A range of fee options are available, but we do not provide Legal Aid.
